The grinding head of a ball mill consists of multiple parts. Among them, there is a feeding port, which is usually designed in a trumpet shape to facilitate the smooth inflow of materials. There is also the hollow shaft, which is used to support the grinding body and convey materials. It must have sufficient strength and stability. The connection end must be ensured to be closely connected with other components of the ball mill to guarantee the overall integrity of the equipment. In the ball mill of a concentrator, the structural design of the grinding head has a direct impact on the feeding speed of the ore.

The main function of the grinding head is to evenly transport the materials into the cylinder of the ball mill. When the ball mill is in operation, the material enters the feeding port of the grinding head through the feeding device. Inside the hollow shaft, the material moves towards the cylinder of the mill under the action of rotational centrifugal force and gravity. During this process, the grinding head must ensure that the material can be continuously and stably fed in. The grinding head will enhance the feeding efficiency with the help of auxiliary devices. Some grinding heads adopt a spiral feeding method. The spiral blades rotate, thereby pushing the materials forward. This method can effectively prevent material blockage and thus ensure the normal operation of the grinding head.
